Contemporary Classic Serenity — Bungalow Design & Build Project
Contemporary Classic Serenity is our completed bungalow design and build project, combining timeless classical detailing with calm contemporary interiors. We brought together soft neutral colours, warm timber, decorative wall and ceiling details, thoughtful lighting, built-in elements and comfortable furnishings to create continuity throughout the home.
At Touchpoint Interior Design, our team helps homeowners create connected interiors that respond to both design preferences and everyday living. In Contemporary Classic Serenity, we carried this concept from the main living and dining areas through the bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and staircase so the bungalow maintains a consistent character without making every space feel the same.

Project at a Glance
Contemporary Classic Serenity shows how a bungalow can carry one recognisable design language through both main rooms and transitional spaces. The project uses recurring colours, materials and architectural details to connect different areas while allowing each room to fulfil its own purpose.

A Contemporary Classic Direction That Flows Through the Home
For this bungalow, we developed a contemporary classic interior concept around balance rather than excessive decoration. Our interior concept development brought colours, materials, furniture, lighting and architectural details into a shared visual language that could be carried naturally from room to room.

Key characteristics visible throughout the project include:
- Soft white, grey, cream and beige tones
- Decorative wall mouldings and architectural detailing
- Warm timber elements for visual contrast
- Upholstered furniture and classic-influenced forms
- Decorative, ambient and functional lighting
- Curtains, furniture and finishes that complement the wider interior
The staircase demonstrates how this design language extends beyond the primary rooms. Its timber handrail, white balustrade and decorative ceiling treatment allow a transitional area to become part of the bungalow's overall visual story.
Living and Dining Spaces Designed as One Story
The living and dining spaces show how adjoining areas can feel like parts of the same home rather than separate design exercises. Wall detailing, ceiling treatments, curtains, neutral furnishings, lighting and timber elements establish visual connections between the spaces.
Our interior space planning process considers furniture placement, circulation and the relationship between adjoining zones. In this bungalow, the arrangement allows the living and dining areas to retain their individual functions while contributing to one continuous interior.
In the dining area, the chandelier creates a focal point while cabinetry, neutral finishes and classic detailing carry through the wider aesthetic. Interior lighting design also plays an important role in contemporary classic interiors, bringing decorative lighting together with illumination for everyday use.

The same overall character continues upstairs. Wall mouldings, a restrained colour palette and neutral furnishings create a relaxed sitting area that feels related to the main living spaces without simply repeating them.

Calm and Comfortable Bedroom Interiors
The main bedroom demonstrates the softer side of the contemporary classic concept. An upholstered bed, neutral bedding, curtains and warm timber furniture create a comfortable setting while retaining the refined character established elsewhere in the bungalow.

A consistent interior concept does not mean every bedroom has to look identical. In the second bedroom, pendant lighting, curtains and a practical study area give the room its own identity, while the neutral palette and understated detailing maintain a connection with the wider project.

Coordinating the Kitchen and Bathroom with the Interior
In the kitchen, grey cabinetry, light work surfaces and under-cabinet lighting shift the contemporary classic concept towards everyday functionality. The cabinetry, work surfaces, storage and key activity areas come together as part of a practical kitchen layout, while our custom furniture and fixtures approach allows built-in elements to respond to available dimensions and functional requirements.

The bathroom continues the home's restrained palette through its double vanity, cabinetry, mirrors, tiled surfaces and glass shower enclosure. Through material selection and sourcing, we consider how surfaces and finishes relate visually while remaining appropriate for their intended applications.
