From Our Client’s Vision to a Cozy Modern Home

We believe a residential interior should respond to how the homeowner wants the space to look, feel and function. For this Taman Perpaduan project, our client’s vision guided the development of a modern interior with a consistent visual character across the home.

Warm wood tones, light neutral surfaces, restrained darker accents, built-in elements and layered lighting appear throughout the completed spaces. Together, these elements establish the overall atmosphere without relying on a single decorative feature.

The living room shows this direction through the TV console, feature details, concealed lighting and surrounding furniture. Our residential interior design approach helps us translate the client’s preferred direction into spaces that can be carried through to completion.

Connecting the Living, Kitchen and Dining Spaces

We recommend considering how shared spaces relate to one another, even when architectural divisions remain between them. Furniture positioning, lighting, colours and finishes can give each area its own purpose without making the interior feel visually disconnected.

In this project, the kitchen and dining spaces continue the light and warm design direction established elsewhere in the home.

The dedicated dining area creates a different visual moment through the round table, mirrors, pendant lighting and feature niche.

These details help distinguish the dining area while maintaining a visual relationship with the surrounding interior. Mirrors can also influence how the space is visually experienced by reflecting light and surrounding details without physically changing its dimensions.

Planning Kitchen Storage Around Everyday Needs

We recommend planning kitchen storage, work surfaces and appliance positions together because these fixed elements compete for the same available space. Considering them early allows the kitchen design to respond to both the available dimensions and the wider interior direction.

For the kitchen, our team brought together upper and lower cabinetry, tall storage, work areas and appliance positions within the completed design.

Creating a Comfortable Master Bedroom with Built-In Storage

We recommend considering bedroom atmosphere and storage together rather than adding cabinetry only after the main bedroom design is established. This helps practical storage become part of the room’s visual direction.

For this project, the master bedroom combines a soft neutral palette with an upholstered bed, lighting, curtains and integrated storage.

The full-height cabinetry provides a closer look at how storage was incorporated into the room.

Together, the photographs show how the sleeping area and storage follow the same interior direction rather than appearing as unrelated elements.

Making a Smaller Bedroom Work Harder

We recommend looking beyond the bed when planning a smaller bedroom. Depending on the homeowner’s requirements, one room may need to support sleeping, studying, storage and relaxation within the available floor area.

In the smaller bedroom at this project, our team used the room for several functions rather than treating it only as a sleeping space.

The study and window-side area demonstrates how built-in planning can make use of both wall space and areas around the window.

Using Lighting to Build a Cozy Interior

Lighting is one of the recurring elements that helps establish the comfortable character of this home. We recommend thinking beyond a single general ceiling light and considering how different lighting types relate to the purpose and atmosphere of each space.

Across the completed project, the photographs show recessed ceiling lighting, pendant lights, wall lights, concealed lighting and illuminated feature areas. Each serves a different visual or practical role, from highlighting the dining area to adding softer illumination around bedroom and living-room features.

Through our interior lighting design, we consider lighting alongside furniture, built-ins and surrounding finishes. This allows it to become part of the interior concept rather than simply a final decorative addition.

Bringing the Same Design Approach into the Bathroom

We recommend carrying the wider design approach into practical spaces such as bathrooms instead of treating them as separate from the rest of the home. Storage, lighting, surfaces and fixtures still need to work together within the available layout.

In the bathroom, the vanity area, illuminated mirror and enclosed shower are coordinated within the completed space.

The result extends the project evidence beyond living areas and bedrooms, showing how our design direction was applied to another practical part of the residence.
